Following my monstrous cyber attack, I researched tools to help me get back up and running and to prevent it from happening in the future. If it’s one thing we don’t talk about with websites enough, it’s website security. Cybercrime is up and even your best efforts are at risk so you know that NO EFFORTS will have you open and vulnerable. Backup you site, change passwords, clean files, use firewalls, redirect login pages. Do everything you can reasonably do to help protect your sites. Invest website security making sure your site is PCI-complaint so your clients and their transactions online transactions with you are secure. Here are some tools I found for helping your WP site be a lot more secure against hacks.

Five Plugins and Services to Boost Your WordPress Security:

Wordfence (plugin)
Sucuri Scanner (plugin)
All In One WP Security & Firewall (plugin)
itelock (service)
ucuri Site Monitoring (service)

Try them out and let me know how they work for you. In digging around and trying to find out what works best, I also found this helpful resource, WP Tavern, and their write up on things we might fail to do to secure our websites.

You can try these tips and maybe try some others, but whatever you do, treat your website like the precious commodity that it is.
